While you need few reasons to convince yourself it’s time for your next holiday, deciding where exactly to go is always a head-scratcher. Here at The Gambia Experience, there’s only ever one option we’d choose. And yes, though we may be biased, it is for good reason. Superb climate, friendly locals, quiet beach resorts and diverse wildlife are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the reasoning behind holidays to The Gambia. Still need convincing? Here are five of our top reasons to visit The Gambia for your next holiday…

1. The warmth of winter sunshine

When dreary weather hits the UK, The Gambia experiences almost uninterrupted sunshine and practically zero rainfall. In fact, from November to June, holidaymakers can experience average maximum temperatures in the low-30s, ensuring The Gambia is a fantastic winter sun destination – especially if you base yourself in one of our beachfront…

An Opportunity to Give Back

People living in poor communities have the same aspirations as those in more affluent places, they hope for the same chances and opportunities, good health care, clean running water and high-quality schools for their children but unfortunately their hopes and dreams don’t always become a reality.  This is why Madox is asking club members, flying enthusiasts and friends of Madox to consider helping out and contribute to making a significant, long-term difference in the lives of those we meet while flying in The Gambia. For the cost of a weekends flying in the UK you can greatly enhance someone’s live in The Gambia.  The helping hand will be direct from yours to theirs.  No CEO’s to pay, no administrative staff to pay, no middle men to pay and certainly no one on the side waiting for their share of your well earned funds.  It’s simple, from you to them.  Madox will only facilitate the journey something we love doing as pilots and flying enthusiasts.

The Jan. 2 execution of Saudi Shiite cleric and political activist Nimr al-Nimr has escalated sectarian hostilities in the Middle East to dangerous new levels. Following the sacking of a Saudi embassy in Iran, Saudi Arabia has severed ties with Iran and expelled its diplomats. Tensions are running high, with apocalyptic rhetoric on all sides.

However, for all the fireworks, this escalation will probably not change much. Saudi Arabia and Iran have been engaged in a proxy war at various temperatures over regional order for many years. The Syrian peace process may be derailed, and even more weapons pour into its horrifyingly destructive stalemate, but few really believed in its prospects anyway. The war in Yemen will likely continue on the same current destructive course as before, where even the coming and going of a cease-fire affected fighting on the ground little. The campaign against the Islamic State may become a bit more complicated, but the Gulf states long ago shifted most of their military attention toward Yemen. The United States has not become any more likely to walk away from its painstakingly negotiated nuclear agreement with Iran.

Your engine just failed – what should you do?

In this video, the pilot successfully glides his Cessna 208 Caravan back to Earth for a dead-stick landing. Metal from the gearbox had passed through the compressor and free turbines, destroying several of the blades and causing catastrophic engine failure.

The pilot made a great landing, timing his approach and descent rate perfectly to make a smooth, safeemergency landing. Check it out, then pass it on.
