Apple has sold nine million of its new iPhone models in three days.
The company said that sales of the iPhone 5S and 5C had beaten previous launches of new phones.
Apple said demand for the 5S had outstripped supply and Apple shares rose almost 6% on the news before falling back to trade 4% higher.
The 5S has a fingerprint sensor built into the phone’s main button. The cheaper 5C comes with a plastic back in a choice of colours.

Samsung, in occasione dell’IFA, la maggior fiera di prodotti elettronici del mondo con sede a Berlino, ha presentato ieri il Galaxy Gear, il suo primo orologio intelligente. Il dispositivo avrà il suo lancio il 25 settembre, quando farà la sua comparsa in 149 paesi. Permette di fare e ricevere chiamare tramite il controllo vocale, ricevere messaggi e mail sul touch screen ed ha anche una fotocamera con una risoluzione di 320 x 320 pixels. Lo schermo, della grandezza di 3 pollici, non permette la scrittura di messaggi. Lo smartwatch rappresenta l’intenzione di aprire un nuovo mercato. Tim Cook, amministratore delegato di Apple, aveva definito alcuni mesi fa gli orologi intelligenti “un’area interessante” e ha registrato in vari Paesi la marca “iWatch”.
