One-third of charities under threat due to falling incomes | Irish Examiner.

THE future of more than one-third of Irish charities and community groups is under threat due to falling income levels, a survey has found.  In addition, close to half the 128 charities who took part in the survey have had to either suspend or delay projects in the past six months due to financial challenges.

THE Immigrant Council of Ireland has said that racism is “an everyday fact of life” for migrants in this country.  Foreigners who have come to live in Ireland have reported encountering such abuse to the Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI) which today called on the public to do more by challenge such behaviour when they witness it.

Egyptian women, long allowed to vote, see little progress from revolt | McClatchy.

Thousands of Egyptian women fought in the 18-day uprising that unseated longtime President Hosni Mubarak. They hurled stones at pro-regime attackers, delivered meals to hungry protesters, and drew global attention to the struggle through their blogs and Twitter accounts. At least 15 women died in the uprising, according to official figures. Hundreds were wounded. And still, complain prominent Egyptian feminists, women are being sidelined from post-Mubarak politics…
