Charity’s board ‘did not vote to oust O’Shea in bully row’ via @independent_ie.

CHARITY boss John O’Shea may have misunderstood the purpose of a GOAL board meeting which led him to take legal action against the directors, it emerged yesterday.

On Tuesday Mr O’Shea secured an injunction temporarily stopping the board from taking any action regarding his employment with the charity he established 35 years ago.

The High Court was told that the 68-year-old CEO believed there was a “concerted effort” to remove him from his position.

But it is understood that, rather than trying to oust Mr O’Shea, the plan was for him to take a paid break to allow allegations of bullying against him to be investigated…

JOHN O’SHEA has set up a dramatic legal showdown with those he appointed to help run the charity he founded, as he battles to remain in control of GOAL.

He is now locked in a bitter battle with the board to save his €100,000-a-year job at the head of the overseas aid body.

The acrimony that has dogged the organisation for months was laid bare at the High Court yesterday, as Mr O’Shea claimed there was a “concerted effort” to remove him from his position. ..

Jul 6 2012 (IPS) – Two weeks after the United Nations conference on sustainable development in Rio de Janeiro has left many lukewarm, activists, government representatives and U.N. officials are looking forward to setting new goals for the future.  “I think the world needs much more than what we achieved,” Heikki Holmas, Norwegian minister of international development, admitted at a press conference at U.N. headquarters in New York on Thursday.  Still, the focus of the discussion was less on casting blame than on how to move on and set new sustainable development goals for the future…
